"Ideally, HR professionals are partners in the formulation of the strategic plan of the organization. We must assure that the interventions we propose support the strategy and demonstrate the return on investment for the practices and interventions we do undertake. Practitioners must become skilled it identifying the ways in which our interventions impact organizational criteria and at estimating the dollar value associated with that impact. Together, a strategic focus and a return on investment perspective will increase the relevance and impact of our profession."

Ronald B. Morgan, Ph.D. (1983, Ohio State University)
